about

I was never that big a Black Sabbath fan - the comedy elements often overwhelmed the music - yet I absolutely love Paranoid. The first punk rock song, really. When I heard the Sex Pistols, Clash, etc., I thought they weren't all that different than Zep's Immigrant Song and Sabbath's Paranoid. Totally dialed-in rhythm section, guitars rippling with power, killer hooks - what's not to like?

But I can't play like that. However, jamming with some adventurous musicians years ago on some reggae grooves brought out my inner Osborne. Paranoid took on an island feel - a pretty depressing (lyrically) island feel, but definitely not heavy metal. Just ask Tommy James.

Inspired by Neil Young, John Fogerty, Paul Westerberg, Ian Hunter and many more, The Kevins' continuing quest is to create the perfect single - or at least some cool b-sides. ... more
