Growing up with 1970s AM radio was brilliant. All kinds of songs spun in succession: barn-burning rockers, bubblegum, country-rock and killer r&b. Records by The O'Jays, The Spinners, The Temptations in those days were just as killer to me as any rock and roll.

Flipping through an old old songbook one day, this tune leaped from the pages. I hadn't ever thought to play it, but the lyrics were really speaking to me. So I rigged up my best easy listening psychedelic guitar sounds and went to town.
