The music bed for Dream Of The Truth had been sitting around for over two years, just waiting for the right lyrics to find their way into the tune. That happened while watching a movie - a 1950s biblical epic called The Robe - on television.

One of the characters said "We dream of the truth, but we're afraid to live it." I don't know if the source of the line was the Old Testament or a Hollywood screenwriter. No matter. That line really stuck with me, it works as a mantra on so many levels. And it didn't take long to work a minimalist lyrical expansion of that idea into the music.

A friend made a comment that this track is my version of what U2 are always trying to say. I'll take that as a compliment.
