It's True 02:59
IT'S TRUE by K. Dennis I'm sitting here thinking How to put the words in just the right way Avoiding stock phrases Like "love walked in, and saved the day!" But it's true I'd be lost without you It's true I'd be lost without you Saw some little kids playing And I felt that old hurt, and I wanted to cry Then I saw your face smiling Sayin' "Yes it's tough and I'm by your side" Well it's true I'd be lost without you It's true I'd be lost without you After years in the dark, the sun's breaking through You light up my life like a bolt from the blue It's so easy to stoop to cliche But I can't say "I love you" in near enough ways I'm sitting here thinking How to arrange the words in just the right way Give weight to their meaning But actions speak louder than a million words a day Well it's true I'd be lost without you It's true I'd be lost without you

THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO by K. Dennis She's been carrying this weight around for far too long Said now's the time to set it down She's been carrying this weight around for far too long Gonna deal with the devil head on The time was right, the stars aligned See the power rising in her eye She don't talk, she walks the walk The girl with the dragon tattoo She's been carrying this weight around for far too long Said now's the time to hand it off She's been carrying this weight around for far too long Gonna wrestle with the devil he's not so tough The time was right, the stars aligned See the power rising in her eye She don't talk, she walks the walk The girl with the dragon tattoo Make no mistake She'll take you The girl with the dragon tattoo

ELECTRIC FENCE by K. Dennis Well that guy told me, and that guy showed me Still I just had to grab her electric fence An educational experience Taking hold of her electric fence They said she'll knock you away I'll take that chance today Man, that woman sparked like an electric fence A hair-raising experience Caught up in her electric fence A hundred thousand volts protecting her heart Wind-powered, coal-fired, what else have you got? Live wires are ready to deliver anytime Concentrated lightning anytime you touch the line Well I learned my lessons, and I've got the scars Here comes another fool, you didn't have to look far You know he's gonna try and cross her electric fence An unsettling experience Taking hold of her electric fence Electric fence

I DON'T GET IT by K. Dennis I don't get it People hurt people everyday in a hundred thousand ways Since time began it's still predator and prey I don't get it I don't get it I've lashed out even though I knew that it was wrong It's a secret switch that cuts the lights and turns the dark on I don't get it No surprise sometimes we go crazy Living in a world of fear makes us feel empty On New Year's Eve I'm sitting here being resolute Looking for the truth I don't get it As far as I know we only get the chance to go around once It's such a beautiful world why do we try so hard to mess it up? I don't get it No surprise sometimes we go a little crazy Living in a world of fear makes us all feel empty On New Year's Eve I'm sitting here very resolute Looking for the truth I don't get it

Prison Song 02:43
PRISON SONG by K. Dennis Sittin' here watching the clouds roll by Through the spaces between the bars Rollin' wherever they want to today They're free like the wind and the stars A flash of anger counted for more Than the years hangin' in when the craziness hit Sentenced to solitary no set term The jailers hit me right where it hurt They took away the future that gave me hope The life that gave me life I'll try to forgive and I won't forget The ones who were cruel If I sit here long enough more clouds will come by Driftin' slow into my point of view And that's how I spend most of my days The nights turn deep deep blue They took away the future that gave me hope The life that gave me life I know I'll forgive and I won't forget The ones who were cruel And the ones who were kind I'll remember the ones who were kind Sittin' here watching the clouds roll by Through the spaces between the bars Rollin' wherever they want to today They're free like the wind and the stars They're free like the wind and the stars Remember the ones who were cruel Remember the ones who were kind

BREAKING AND ENTERING by A. Bergey/K.Dennis She's got a crime in mind She won't let on She's got a plan in hand When I am gone Breaking and entering My heart is on her string She can't help it, it's her habit When I'm not there, she will grab it I'm elsewhere and absent-minded Leave my heart where she could find it She will take it, it's a steal She has found out where I feel She's got a scheme from dreams A second try There's a part on my heart Where she can pry Breaking and entering My heart is on her string

GHOSTS HAUNT THIS HIGHWAY by K. Dennis Drivin' this road for thirty-five years Riders come and gone along the way One night a lost memory climbed aboard The past would not be kept away Ghosts haunt this highway Can't make them disappear Ghosts haunt this highway In the rear view mirror Ghosts haunt this highway It's too close when they appear A cross standin' lonely on the side of the road Markin' the end of someone's days Flashes in the headlights stark and white The past begins to hold sway Ghosts haunt this highway Unsafe at any speed Ghosts haunt this highway Sittin' in the seat next to me Ghosts haunt this highway It's too close when they appear...

about

The eighth album from The Kevins ricochets exuberantly between multiple musical moods. Lyrical themes of love, disappointment, joy, loss and gratitude find expression in an wide array of original songs and revisionist history covers (tunes from Husker Du, Steppenwolf, Blondie and Eagles).

A battery of acoustic and electrofried guitars, ukuleles, bass, drums and keyboards are employed in a variety of musical styles: acoustic pillow-psych, countrified honks and all kinds of rock.

about

The Kevins Arvada, Colorado

The Kevins (Denver, CO) have been conjuring up home-made rock music since 1998: original songs by K. Dennis, tunes by friends & colleagues, and covers (Steppenwolf, Blondie, The Delfonics, Husker Du, The Banana Splits, more). Inspired by Neil Young, John Fogerty, Paul Westerberg, Ian Hunter and many more, The Kevins' continuing quest is to create the perfect single - or at least some cool b-sides. ... more
