Doug's Skylark had a loud stereo

Not a lot of tapes, some sounded crappy

So many songs take me back to that time
Seventy-four, seventy-five
Sucked when a track change stopped a song
Sometimes we didn't notice kept singing along

Clapton and Cream and Abbey Road
Zeppelin albums one through four
Floyd and the Stones got a lot of play
Not as much as Tres Hombres

Steve Miller had some killer tapes
Todd Rundgren always sounded great
Second Helping, The Allman Brothers
Elvin Bishop Let It Flow, Marshall Tucker

Who's Next and Brain Salad Surgery
Soundtracked minor debauchery
Deep Purple blasting Highway Star
Beer cans flyin' out the windows of the car

So many songs take me back to that time
Some are nails on chalkboard in my mind
Don't listen to 'em, don't like 'em no more
But I still turn it up when Traffic sings
"Light up or leave me alone"
